The George
Foreman G2 is literally half grill, half griddle. This unit is convenient
for preparing all types of foods, from pancakes or bacon and eggs for
breakfast to grilled sandwiches or burgers for lunch to steaks, chops,
and vegetables for dinner. The G2 offers a large griddle surface (approximately
115 square inches) plus an added 100 square inches of grill surface. The
nice thing about grilling with the Foreman grill, of course, is the speed
(since you are cooking foods from above as well as below) and also the
raised nonstick grilling surface, which lets fats drain away and into
a separate drip tray. The only drawback to the design is that the drip
tray is not attached to the unit itself, so you have to be careful not
to dislodge it from its position under and in front of the grill plates.
We loved the dual temperature gauges, which let you set the grill to one
temperature and the griddle to another, or just use one side and leave
the other side off. When set on low, the griddle also acts as a warming
plate. Power lights on either side let you know when the correct temperature
has been reached. Other features include an oversize cool-touch handle,
plastic grill-cleaning tool, plastic spatula, and non-skid rubber feet.
