MULTI XS 3600 The battery charger that every household should have The MULTI XS 3600 is a versatile battery charger in a compact format that makes it convenient and easy to charge and maintain all household vehicles. The special cold mode means that you can also charge during cold winter days without problems. The MULTI XS 3600 satisfies all the home’s charging needs as it charges all types of 12V batteries. Charging The MULTI XS 3600 has a fully automatic, four step charge: 1.Desulphation Desulphation with pulsing for sulphated batteries. 2.Bulk Main charge when 80% of charging takes place. The charger delivers a constant current until the terminal voltage has risen to the set level. 3.Absorption Complete charge up to virtually 100%. The terminal voltage is maintained at the set level. During this phase the current drops successively so the terminal voltage does not become too high. If the absorption phase has been in progress for more than 18 hours the charger switches to maintenance charging. This function prevents damage if the battery is faulty. 4.Maintenance charging - pulse Maintenance charging. Charging varies between 95% and 100%. The battery receives a pulse when the voltage drops. Keeps the battery in perfect condition when it is not used. The charger can be connected for months at a time. Batteries The MULTI XS 3600 can be set very easily to charge Wet, MF, GEL and AGM lead-acid batteries. You will find an explanation of the various battery types under Charger University, Battery Types. You can use the MULTI XS 3600 to charge a range of batteries, from small 1.2Ah to large 120Ah. BIKE Mode 14.4V/0.8A This mode is normally used for batteries less than 14Ah. CAR Mode 14.4V/3.6A Normal setting for wet batteries, MF and for most GEL batteries. COLD Mode 14.7V/3.6A This setting is recommended for batteries at temperatures below 5°C. It is also recommended for many AGM batteries. This setting is not recommended for maintenance charging when the temperature at times exceeds +5°C. In this case, the 14.4V/3.6A mode is recommended. The MULTI XS 3600's extremely low back current drain corresponds to 1Ah per month. Many other chargers have 1Ah per day. (**) Ripple denotes the amount of interference there is to the current and voltage. A high current ripple heats the battery and shortens its life. A linear charger has a current ripple of 70 - 400% which is much larger than the maximum 5% for a modern sealed battery. Voltage ripple could harm other equipment, which is connected to the battery. The MULTI XS 3600's ripple is only 2%. The battery gains a long service life and there is no risk of damage to other electronic devices connected to the battery. Equipment The MULTI XS 3600 is delivered with two different battery leads, one with clamps and one with eyelet terminals, all colour coded for easy +/- identification. If the battery is difficult to access, the lead with eyelet terminals can be mounted to the battery, and the quick connectors are located so that it is easily reached for charging. You can also purchase additional leads allowing you to have one lead with eyelet terminals fixed to all your vehicles with batteries that are difficult to get at, and charge them simply from the same charger. Temperature To protect the charger from overheating, the MULTI XS 3600 is fitted with power limitation. The power reduces when the ambient temperature increases. The power also reduces if the charger were to be covered, which protects the charger from damage. The charger continues to work, but at a lower output. When the ambient temperature drops, the power automatically increases again. Safety Electronic safe, the charger will not damage vehicle electronics. The battery does not normally need to be disconnected from the vehicle when charging. Minimal gas build-up and a patent-pending spark protection system. Short circuit and reverse polarity protected.
