XC 800 For those with 6V batteries The XC 800 is the battery charger that can give your old car a new lease on life. Charging The XC 800 has a fully automatic, four step charge: 1.Desulphation Desulphation with pulsing for sulphated batteries. 2.Bulk Main charge when 80% of charging takes place. The charger delivers a constant current until the terminal voltage has risen to the set level. 3.Absorption Complete charge up to virtually 100%. The terminal voltage is maintained at the set level. During this phase the current drops successively so the terminal voltage does not become too high. If the absorption phase has been in progress for more than 18 hours the charger switches to maintenance charging. This function prevents damage if the battery is faulty. 4.Maintenance charging - pulse Maintenance charging. Charging varies between 95% and 100%. The battery receives a pulse when the voltage drops. Keeps the battery in perfect condition when it is not used. The charger can be connected for months at a time. The charger can also be used for maintenance charging of 6V lead-acid batteries from 1.2Ah to 100Ah. The XC 800 is easy to use. You do not need to make any settings. The charger adapts the charge to suit the battery and switches to pulse maintenance charging when the battery is fully charged. Equipment The XC 800 is delivered with two different battery leads, one with clamps and one with eyelet terminals, all colour coded for easy +/- identification. If the battery is difficult to access, the lead with eyelet terminals can be mounted to the battery, and the quick connectors are located so that it is easily reached for charging. You can also purchase additional leads allowing you to have one lead with eyelet terminals fixed to all your vehicles with batteries that are difficult to get at, and charge them simply from the same charger. The XC 800's extremely low back current drain corresponds to < 1 Ah per month. Many other chargers have 1 Ah per day. (**) Ripple denotes the amount of interference there is to the current and voltage. A high current ripple heats the battery and shortens its life. A linear charger has a current ripple of 70 - 400% which is much larger than the maximum 5% for a modern sealed battery. Voltage ripple could harm other equipment, which is connected to the battery. XC 800's ripple is only 2%. The battery gains a long service life and there is no risk of damage to other electronic devices connected to the battery. Temperature To protect the charger from overheating, the XC 800 is fitted with power limitation. The power reduces when the ambient temperature increases. The power also reduces if the charger were to be covered, which protects the charger from damage. The charger continues to work, but at a lower output. When the ambient temperature drops, the power automatically increases again. Mounting The charger is easily fitted in place using two screws. The diameter of the mounting holes is 4.2mm located as shown in the image. The image also shows the dimensions of the charger. Safety Electronic safe, the charger will not damage vehicle electronics.
